Angus McGeehan is a visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Working across painting, drawing, collage and sculptural mediums, his practice examines the broadening concepts of phenomenon, nature, violence and myth.
Juxtaposed between embellished and abrasive aesthetics, there exists a constant tension in both the fluid and static qualities of the art-making process. Expressed through biomorphic forms, figurations and modes of abstraction, reiterates a constant need to explore existential trepidations and desires in a perceptible medium.
McGeehan has developed visual dialect through certain cues and motifs across his artistic practice. These include varying images of humans, animals and plants interacting with modern and analogue technology, geometrical patterns and iconography which all act as concurrent narrative-building symbols.
